According to the latest reports, Chelsea are likely to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, after beIN Sports’ Matt Spiro claimed the 23-year-old agreed terms with La Liga reigning champions Barcelona.
The France international had been widely reported as unsatisfied with his situation at Ligue 1 club and was angling for a move away from the Parc des Princes.
Several clubs from all over Europe were understood to be keen on the French midfielder, including Chelsea. However, it seems as though Barcelona have got the better of the Blues this time.
The West Londoners had been on the hunt for a new central midfielder, after a summer that largely revolved around new boss Maurizio Sarri trying to make his mark on the squad by bringing in players like Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho, the latter only at Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal, however.
Adrien Rabiot is an effective two-way player, and Maurizio Sarri will no doubt be disappointed he wasn’t able to add the Saint-Maurice native to his squad
